SITE-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION AND INTERVENTION
NICOSIA BIENNIAL, CYPRUS
NOVEMBER, 2025

With the PASS installation, realized in Nicosia—the world’s only officially divided capital—and resembling an abandoned checkpoint, the artist brings to life a global utopia in which borders have disappeared and passports and visas have lost their validity. In this imagined future, passport hierarchies no longer exist anywhere in the world, and travel bureaucracy survives only as a distant memory.
Inside, visitors encounter artist-designed passport booklets and a stamp reading “PASS,”
which subtly reveals “COMPASSION.” They are invited to personalize, stamp, and take the booklets free of charge.
Unaffiliated with any state and activated solely by visitors, these passports embody the
ideal of a borderless world, where the freedom to travel depends only on individual will.
